2-Step #2step

2-step (or 2-step garage) is a subgenre of UK Garage that emerged in the late 1990s, defined by syncopated, "skipping" drum patterns rather than standard 4/4 house beats. It features swung hi-hats, deep bass, and R&B-influenced vocals, popularised by artists like Artful Dodger and Craig David. The rhythm creates a "2-step" feel by placing snares on the 2nd and 4th beats.
