Neotrance is an ongoing mid-2010s revival of early 2000s trance that swaps modern "drops" for the driving energy and shimmering melodies of the Y2K era.
Visually, it is defined by a sterile, Metalheart aesthetic, blending technical "cyber" sounds with the nostalgic, techno-utopian atmosphere of vintage Japanese rhythm games.
Influencial artists include Porter Robinsons alias "Virtual Self".
