Art-Net is a royalty-free communication protocol designed to transmit large amounts of DMX512 lighting control data over Ethernet networks.

It allows lighting consoles or computers to control hundreds of universes of lighting fixtures (such as LEDs and moving heads) using a single network cable instead of many separate, heavy DMX cables.
